  • West Victoria St Road Upgrades

The city is planning to start the West Victoria Street upgrade project in April. The city has said the project will impact traffic, though lanes will be maintained in both directions. It will include roadwork and utility infrastructure upgrades beneath the asphalt, as well as upgraded lighting, sidewalks and landscaping.

The infrastructure updates and improvements will start from the B.C. Lottery Corporation building to Overlanders Bridge. The project will include improving the landscape, lighting, underground power as well as updating the utilities in the area. Crundwell stated back in April that Victoria Street had the oldest utilities in the area that dated back to the 1900s.

This is going to have an impact on the Makerspace, in terms of access.

ATTENTION Makerspace Members and User Groups:
Due to construction issues related to the Victoria West Improvement Project, VEHICLE ACCESS to the Kamloops Makerspace parking lot will be closed from Tuesday May 21 to Friday May 24.

Pedestrian access will be maintained, but honestly its going to be a Gong Show for those four days.

We apologize for any inconvenience and for the late notice - we were just informed of this on Friday.

Classes have been cancelled or re-scheduled - pls contact your instructors for further details.

Weds 5-9 pm Open House will still be on for the hardcore Makers and their guests.

This construction project is a huge challenge for all businesses on West Victoria - we will just have to ride it out.
