    Introduction to 3D Printing


    Learn the essentials of 3D Printing at the Kamloops MakerSpace.
    Bring your laptop and follow along as Jason guides you to success in preparing and printing a 3D model on a 3D Printer.

    Topics covered will include:
    • Learning the parts of the printer
    • Preparing your printer & work area
    • Printing Materials (filaments)
    • Using Slic3r to prepare a 3D model for printing
    • Printing a 3D model

    If you want to bring your laptop, be sure to download and install the software before arriving.

    Go here to download the software:

    • Select “Original Prusa i3 MK2/S MULTI MATERIAL”
    • Download “Drivers & Apps 2.1.8” for your computer (Mac/Win/Linux)
    • Once downloaded, install the software (if required)

    Go here to download an example STL 3D model (the Rook)

    • Just click the blue “Download All Files” button near the top right of the screen

    This was great, Jason. It was the information I needed to get going on the 3D printer, so thanks for doing this!

      The computer connected to the printer requires a username and password. These things are not documented. If you know the username and password please put it on some tape on the machine.

        I don't think anyone knows what those are unfortunately. Time for a password recovery or a reinstall :-(

        May I also propose a STANDARD username and password set for all PCs that are used with equipment at the Makerspace.
