Workshop: Laser Cut Enclosures for Prototyping

  • Using a laser cutter is an ideal tool and method for creating enclosures for a prototype. Laser cut enclosures are fast to build and relatively low cost. Although laser cutting is limited to cutting flat materials, it is a surprisingly simple and effective way to create 3d enclosures.

In this workshop we will cover several different techniques for working with acrylic and wood to create enclosures to accommodate electronics, batteries or other components in your prototype or kit.

    Wednesday June 29th, 3-5PM.

    Techniques we will cover:

    • Tabbed Box
    • Live Hinge
    • Snap Fit

By the end of this two hour workshop you will have a good understanding of the capacities of a laser cutter and how to design an enclosure for laser cutting.

Free for makerspace members & companies in the Kamloops Innovation Manufacturing Innovation Program, $20 for non-members.

We have a few spots open, please RSVP here if you’d like to attend.

Supported By: Kamloops Innovation & National Research Council - Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP) in Partnership with: Kamloops Makerspace.

  • Is there a date and time for this? I’m interested.

  • Yes! This Wednesday 3-5pm. @dhylands

  • Bummer - maybe next time. This conflicts with something I already have scheduled.
