Camera and food dispenser - ideas?

There are two cool new products on the pet market:
    http://www.smartanimaltraining.com/how-it-works/
This one allows a variety of inputs to control a feeder for dogs.

    https://petcube.com/
This one allows the owner to check in on the dog visually (and auditorily, maybe?) and interact with the dog by voice and laser pointer (ugh, don’t get me started on dogs and lasers!!)

Some combination of the two ideas would be perfect, and would solve a current client issue. Does anyone have ideas about this? The product that @dhylands posted looked like it might be an interesting replacement for the pet-cube part of the unit…
All thoughts welcome. Could something be rigged up with a computer (with webcam) to be a clumsier version of the pet cube? I can’t see why not…

  • A few years ago a friend of mine got a new dog and wanted to be able to check up on him when she was away from the house. I set up her laptop and a webcam with a free live video streaming application I found on the Internet. She could access the live feed on her smart phone when she needed. I don’t remember what the name of the website was that offered free live video streaming but there are a number of them if you google it.

Yeah, that’s pretty simple. the ability to talk to the dog, though, would be nice. I wonder about setting up so she could “send” herself to her TV? hm
