RE: Health Inspector/Maker Kitchen
Finally, a thread that I fully understand! Brent is a good inspector and easy to deal with, so he won’t give too much trouble - we probably won’t see him again for a year. The test strips are for chemical balance in a machine with chemical sanitizer, so they don’t test temperature and are basically useless for this purpose unless we plan to use a quat sanitizer or bleach. I have electronic thermometers to test the temp inside, but they really aren’t necessary for this purpose. Any home dishwasher gets much, much hotter than a commercial unit, as they use heat to dry the dishes. A commercial unit typically runs a 3 1/2 to 5 minute cycle, vs a home unit at 45 minutes plus, so they don’t have time for a drying cycle. If the dishes come out dry, it’s more than hot enough. If the unit can be made to work, including the heating coil, it’s sanitary. It’s basically self-Sanitizing at that temp. It just needs to be cleaned. There is no need for a commercial dishwasher, any home unit does a better job, it’s just much, much slower. Commercial units start around $4000, home units around $500.
Space is not Open
I only post positive messages on the board, but I am getting very frustrated. I have been trying for almost 3 weeks to get into the space during the day to use my CNC machine and to purchase a WeArm for my nephew. I drive by the space several times a day, during the day, and always look to see if someone is there. I have not been able to get in to the space in all of that time. Today, the space shows open on the website, but I went down as soon as I saw that and rang the bell several times, knocked on the metal shop door and was unable to find anyone. Do we have any idea when the space will be open during the day in the next few days?
RE: MeArm Kits
@robert we have a bunch made up stored in the office, so we can arrange a time for you to come by and pick one up for sure!
Thanks Megan. If anyone will be at the space tomorrow between 9 and noon, I can stop by and pick up. Does that work?
Need someone to help with website.
I am needing to find someone to help me move my existing website from my existing host to a new one. I keep trying to find the time to do it, but my knowledge is not great, and I just don’t have the time. I need to move the site hosting, and ensure that my Email addresses and website don’t have any downtime during the switchover. Wages are negotiable, and we may be able to work out some kind of on-going maintenance contract as well. The site is very basic HTML, hosted currently by Canaca.com (Don’t use them, they suck). If you’re interested, please let me know either through the forum, or call me at 250.574.0242.
RE: Im interested in a "Froggy Mill" CNC 3020 instruction class.
Sounds good. I have two projects I’m going to do soon on the MIll, one of which would make a good demo. I love the idea of working with 3D Cam, but need someone smarter than me to look at it first.
I brought some new bits to the space a couple of days ago - some round end bits, some more engraving bits and a set of flat bottom sized bits. As I see it, the important thing is to really focus on what a CNC mill does that a laser cutter can’t do well, which is 3D and working with harder and thicker materials.
Let me know what the plan is and I’ll be there.
